Timmins and area athletes piled up the podium performances at the 2014 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Vancouver in early July. Patrick Daguerre was twice golden, claiming first in both the 5,000-metre track event and the running long jump. He also took silver in the 3,000-metre and finished fourth in the 1,500-metre. Not to be outdone, Stéphane Daguerre also took home two golds, namely in the the 1,500-metre and 3,000-metre track events. He added a pair of silver medals in the 5,000-metre race and the standing long jump. In the pool, Manon Alary took third in the 25- and 50-metre freestyle races, and seventh in the 25- and 50-metre backstroke events.
