Tinas Tip: Shaving a half second, can be a simple difference of a horse that fires or does not! It sounds easy, a couple tenths going to a barrel and a couple tenths around a barrel. The thing with adding a new gear is you may have to add a new rate or turn cue too. If a horse is running harder to a barrel, you may have to sit and check your horse sooner, it could be a two hand check or one hand check sitting deep and saying whoa depends on the horse, but the key is to still smooch out of turns, once your sure they are turning, snappy turns will shave time as well. You dont want more speed to barrels if you become slower in your turns with stall time. Adding new speed still requires smooth riding focused on your spots, riding smart through the whole run and hopefully your horse will be ready. It may take a few runs to master it but it will get you to the next level. Winning isnt always pretty and sometimes it can feel down right scary, thats when you know your going fast enough! Ride with HEART!
