Tinubu can’t capture Ondo Assembly -Lawmakers 0 share Adewale Giwa Lawmakers in Ondo State yesterday unanimously warned the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, to perish the thought of penetrating the state House of Assembly. The legislators, while dispelling the allegation that they have resolved to defect to the APC, told Saturday Newswatch that no amount of pressure from Tinubu could make them leave their party, the Labour Party (LP). Reacting on behalf of the 25 LP lawmakers, Hon. Akindele Adeniyi said: “The assembly is solidly behind Governor Olusegun Mimiko. We have no reason to join the APC. We therefore warn Asiwaju Tinubu to perish the idea of penetrating the Assembly. “You will recall that immediately I addressed journalists weeks ago that the APC cannot stand the test of time, the party started witnessing series of crisis in the state, and in other states in Nigeria. In Ondo State, the party disagreed with its national leadership over the candidature of Rotimi Akeredolu as the chairman of the interim committee, thereby setting up another parallel group which is now polarising the party in the state. “Our governor, by every standard, has worked tirelessly for the development of the sunshine state; he has transformed almost every sector in it. So, we are working in tandem with him to move the state forward. “What happened recently in the Assembly is an internal wrangling which is not new all over the world. We have resolved our differences and we are ready to work together and make laws that will impact positively on our people.” Adeniyi however urged members of the opposition parties to stop spreading false rumours about the Assembly adding that “the opposition parties should be objective enough and stop spreading false allegations. “We remain committed to the lofty ideals of our party leaders; we are not ready to pitch tent with any opposition party.” Hon. Akindele, who is representing Akure North, said the recent crisis in the Assembly is an internal matter among the lawmakers which he noted has been resolved amicably by Governor Mimiko. The lawmaker however blamed the opposition parties for spreading false rumour about the relationship between the governor and the lawmakers, adding that ”we have no problem with our performing governor who has continued to transform our dear sunshine state.”
