Tip 2 Before I get started, let me tell you that i have NO school knowledge. Everything has been trial an error since day ONE. Everything I do is based off of listening and not text book knowledge. I dont speak technical jargon, only what I know. So. Lets get In to recording real quik. I record at a somewhat low volume. I dont peak or record hot. Why? Well when you record to hot you use up most of the headroom. Headroom is needed for processing and enhancing vox. With no head room youre literally pushing to the poi t of distortion. Id rather have enough room to process and turn up than to have no head room and then have to turn down I apply this rule to anything I record. Vox instruments drums etc.
