Tip. 8 8. Make your primary focus about helping others Help people get what they want, and you’ll get everything you want in the process. Zig - Zigler Too many people focus on just trying to get anyone to join at any cost or get frustrated with a new team member and sometimes even back away from them because theyre not doing as much as you want them to do because youre building a team and youre on a mission to make money for you! This is not an effective way to build a business if your focus is on you and your needs and not them and their needs! We need to listen to what people want. We need to identify if they are a fit for our business, and we need to show that person how our business can deliver what they’re after. And we need to be a good mentor and induct people properly by asking questions providing guidance and leading them forward. When I worked this out my business started to grow.... questions provide the answers! * How much do you need to earn ( not like - NEED) dont assume ! your advice needs to reflect this including being honest if its unrealistic - people appreciate honest so dont be afraid! * help them to get organised to see how they will be able to implement the required retail plan - will it fit? * provide some realistic expectations balanced with enthusiasm to achieve their goal * know their proposed distribution and collection days so you can communicate in and around them with them * help them to make adjustments if required drill deep to uncover what they may not be doing correctly so again ask questions as if youre not clear you cant give clear advice * lead them to your team resources and expose them to more of whats available.. Remember though .. Helping people is not doing it for them ! This isnt helping them its making them weak ! they have to be prepared to follow your advice based on their needs... if they choose not too... thats unfortunate for them as we dont allow anyone to steal away our own dreams an aspirations ...so .. Whatever you do keep going! ie find more dont stop and go into management mode or wait for people so to speak - keep finding more people - if they for whatever reason stop or fail for their own reasons youre not relying on them - this business works its people that dont - so put people first - provide good advice - help them achieve their goals - and replace them so to speak ( so dont rely on them) before they prove you right or wrong! ) This approach makes the world of difference - people are not their to make you money they are their to make themselves money and if you just change your perspective a tad youre business will grow... Its actually the 2nd P I talk about Purpose - not your personal reason why but your fundamental business objective to be the best you can be .. In this case the best team leader - create more value and you create more wealth - remember though you are running a business its not a social club so getting the balance here is really important and only experience will see you achieve this - hope you have enjoyed these tips... but I have a question that requires a call to action : which one has had the most effect on you ?
