Tip for Djs..... To All opening djs...If you get the chance to open for a headlining Dj take into consideration these Ideas. 1. Do not play any of the headlining acts Song or remixes. 2. Do not play past 126 bpm 3. Do not play anything from the last 2 years... Meaning there are plenty of great records to play always play tracks from 2 years ago. when Opening you can create a vibe like this cause most of the tracks people will know and can make the room warm. 4.Do not play boring shit no one knows cause u think ur being cool and playing deep house or tech records. 5. If your not sure if the dj is gonna play it then dont play it even some older songs are crowd pleasers and the headlining act may have a mash up of it or some other version. he has made or acquired. 6. Its an art to open a room you have to understand house music and where it comes from. When I started djing there was always one dj in the club start to finish u had to learn to open... set it up.. knock it down.. and keep them interested all night. 7. PROMOTERS>> Do not book ur friends to play cause they drop all ur favorite songs and you think thats a good thing. 8. I always respect a dj who knows its not his show....I will always give the opening dj a pat on the back and thank him for doing the right Thing. 9. If your a dj whos only catalogue consists of Spinnin Dimmak, Revealed,Protocol,Wall, Doorn..Records you should not be opening as a dj. I say this with ease but it truly is an art to open anyone can play an hour of bangers thats easy I think a solid opening dj shines more then the headliner cause it shows control in a mess of chaos... and last but not least... 10. This is not your show so dont act like it by jumping around and screaming on the mic like it is... announcements are fine leading up but again its not ur show!!!! So dont act like it is. We as professional djs find this very insulting even if they never say it. nick #brawla
