Tip for all. Do not give up on that trophy Buck if you do not find it but have a for sure hit. Lucky for you the deer despite being hit does not have a memory like a humans. They live in the now meaning their survival instincts are so keen it is that which drives them. They do not remember the exact spot they got stuck with an arrow. Or even what hit them. This is often why you will find that same deer wounded walking around only a week or two later. Especially if your in its core area it will stick to that core area despite being shot. It is where it feels safe and not pressured. The reason for caching on to tree stands is your stand is either in to close to a travel lane or corridor, or is highly visible from their perspective. He is not remembering it. It is just sticking out every time they come through. Here is pics from a deer I had a angled shot on and the mechanical broadheads did not open. They got bound. Two weeks or so later the deer was back on camera sealed up walking pretty fine. 6-7 climbing stand moves and a couple days and he was taken AGAIN, with a fixed blade. Recovered the deer both arrows and the best and hardest and most sentimental hunt possible to date it will take allot to top it.
