Tip of the Day - Gesso is an acrylic based primer used for sealing canvases. Because of its consistency and blending abilities I use it when base coating a canvas or when painting backgrounds. The nice thing about gesso is its receptive to acrylics, pastels, charcoal, pencil and crayon. Once I get to the point of a painting where Im working on the main body of the painting then I switch over to titanium white. Until then any blocking, background painting or large areas that require heavy blending that requires white, I use gesso just as if I were using regular white acrylic paint. Have fun!
