Tip of the day....Today we are back in kitchen mode. I found this cheap and cheerful (yet very cool) backsplash idea recently. Take ordinary beadboard or V groove board (found by the sheet in any big box hardware store) and cut pieces on a 45 degree angle to create a herringbone effect. I would HIGHLY suggest painting this with a semi-gloss or high-gloss paint for ease of cleaning! Cool huh...and cheap! A big bang for the buck to get by until you can gut to the studs and put in your dream kitchen. I would also love this in a farmhouse as a permanent backsplash with soapstone counters and a white farmhouse sink (as shown). xx.DT
