Tip of the day Winds are part of spring and can be damaging to small tree that dont have many branches and leaves to begin with. Also they dont have the root structure to hold up against being blown over. Important to stake trees, especially ones that are out in the open, but dont stake so tight that tree cant sway. Use two poles, one on each side, about two - three feet away, and loosely tie the tree so it can sway about a foot each direction. Stakes and ties should not be permanent and should be removed after 1 year.
