Tips & Techniques Here are some DOs and DONTs which are in fact hard to find but can prove useful to many of the students. Negative Marking: If the test has negative marking, you have to carefully think before attempting any question that you are not sure about. If you are clueless about an answer of a question, leaving the question unanswered may be the best option. That is because every time you make a guess, you risk the marks that you have already gained. So in a test with negative marking, think twice before making a guess. Dont Get Too Nervous: Getting nervous before the test is perfectly normal, but getting too nervous can be damaging. Too much nervousness can lower your confidence level thus effecting your performance. Also your thinking & evaluation power gets effected & this may even cause you to get a simple question wrong. Read every question patiently, more then once if required. Keep yourself cool and calm because the more relaxed you are, the better are your chances of performing good. Shade Carefully: Shading the answers attentively, on the provided answer sheet, is indeed very important. A slight carelessness or a mistake in this case can be disastrous. While you shade, you are strongly advised not to hurry/rush, instead take your time and shade each and every answer carefully. Cross match the question number on the question paper and the answer sheet afterwards to ensure accuracy. As the answer sheets are checked by the computers, it is advised to fill in each circle, on the answer sheet, properly by a dark black pencil. Ensure that the circle is completely filled. Shade at regular intervals as you proceed with you test, shading after every half-an-hour or so. Do not leave shading for the end and try not to shade a very large number of questions at a time. Managing Time: Entrance tests are all about managing time. Without an efficient time management plan, your chances of success are meagre. It is advised to distribute time according to the total number of questions in an entrance exam. For example: If there are 200 MCQs to be solved in an allotted time of 180 minutes (3 hours), you need to at least, solve 67 MCQs within an hour (or 34 MCQs within half-an-hour) in order to finish the test in time. Not to mention that you also need to give a proper time to shading. Practising can tremendously improve your time management. With proper planning and implementation, you can finish of the test easily within the allotted time. Dont Give Up: Now-a-days entrance exams are held shortly after the A level or F.Sc examinations. So the already tired students find it extremely difficult to study or to work hard immediately after their final exams. But in fact, these few months are quite crucial. So the idea is to realize the importance of this short time span and to keep yourself well motivated. Studying hard with the will to never give up is the the key to success. GOOD LUCK !!
