Tips for Eating Through the Holidays (from Lee Labrada), Part 2 Here are the rest of my tips that will help you navigate your way through the Holidays. I will start with a very important tip... 6. Give away your leftovers. If your fridge is stuffed with tempting foods, its almost impossible to get back on your program the day after your holiday. Youll want to keep going back for more and more. At this point, you may rationalize, Ive already blown my diet, and I might as well finish all of this good food. Its going to go to waste. Well, remember that you dont want to waste your body, your health, or your hard work in the gym, either. Whats more important, the food or your body? 7. Cardio is important if youre going to be chowing down. Try hitting an extra session of cardio the day before and the day after the smorgasbord. Go for a brisk walk after your holiday dinner. This will help to kick off digestion. 8. Speaking of digestion, it would be recommendable for you to pick up a bottle of digestive enzymes at your local health food store.Digestive enzymes are very beneficial, especially if youre loading your body down with large meals. I keep a bottle of digestive enzymes in my cupboard at all times. Whenever I have large meals, Ill take a couple of tablets, not only to ease the fullness, but also to ease the strain and demand on my digestive system. 9. When you get in the gym the next day, be sure to increase your repetitions; work out a little bit longer. This is not something that I normally recommend, but in light of the high calories the day before, its not a bad idea. If youve been on a strict nutritional program, you may encounter some water weight gain in the days following your holiday meals. Drink plenty of fluid and exercise. Immediately get back on your diet the next day. The fluid will take care of itself in a couple of days; its nothing to worry about.
