Tips if you ever get stopped by Law Enforcement I hope this helps someone. I’m not an expert. However, this advice is what I as a former Police officer used to determine who I wrote a simple ticket to and who I gave a warning. Since being a Police Office, these same actions have gotten me out of Most - but NOT ALL tickets as well 1. Pull over ASAP!! Do not take your time pulling over. 2. Roll down all of your windows 3. If it is at night, Turn on all of your interior lights 4. At this point DO NOT reach for your License and DO NOT reach towards you glove box 5. Place your hands on your steering wheel 6. Once the Officer approaches your vehicle, greet him with a smile and say “Good morning, afternoon, or evening Sir or Ma’am (NEVER start this process with a bad attitude!!!) 7. Once asked for your license & insurance, tell the officer where it’s located and ask for permission to get it. 8. Answer all questions with Yes Sir or No Sir. (You don’t have to like him to Respect his Office) 9. If you have done the above and the officer still appears he is going to right you a ticket, you may ask can He or She please give you a warning. He or she may be moved to give you a warning based on the above behavior 10. If you still receive a ticket. Do not become Disorderly. If you feel like you did not do anything wrong, then go to court but NEVER sit and argue on the side of the road. Always remember the officer has a supervisor. If you feel you have been mistreated, make a complaint the proper way
