Tips on what to do during/before the Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yulanda - TopicsExpress

Tips on what to do during/before the Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yulanda hits our area: 1. Buy as many plastic bags as you can. Use them to cover your appliances in case your roof leaks. You will also need them to store garbage as garbage collection will likely be delayed. 2. Do not buy fresh food. In the case of a very bad storm, there may not be electricity for the refrigerator. Buy only food that does not need a fridge, like tapa or canned goods. If electricity is lost, consume all your fresh food first. 3. Do all your laundry now. There may not be any running water after a storm. 4. Buy extra cell phone batteries. Even if there is no electricity, the cell site towers might still have working backup generators. Communication is important. 5. If garbage collection services are available, give them only perishables and rotting garbage. Do not give them debris like broken glass or furniture. This will overwhelm the garbage collection system and deprive others in need. 6. Store as much clean water as you can. People can live without electricity or even food for days, but water is essential. Separate your drinking water from water used for washing or flushing your toilet. Water used for these things can be kept in open containers like pails or drums (you can even fill up your sinks with water to maximize your storage). #KeepCalm #SuperTyphoonHaiyan #PrayforPhilippinse #BeAlert #BePrepared #SaveLives
