Tips to survive 2015 in Kuwait Life has become increasingly - TopicsExpress

Tips to survive 2015 in Kuwait Life has become increasingly difficult for expatriates and many low-income Kuwaitis, so I thought to dedicate an article to explain how to keep calm and save your money this year due to the frustrating circumstances. Low-income people have a clear goal - to secure enough money to pay their obligations, neither more nor less. They are very realistic over their needs, hopes and bills that they must cover by the end of every month, including schools fees. We start our day on crowded roads that we all hate. Everyone knows how the rest of the world lives and how they have developed their road systems and means of transportation, except in Kuwait. Here, expats still have to struggle to get a driving license in order to get a job. A driving license is key for survival here and if you don’t have one, then your stay will not be pleasant. My tip for those who fail to get a license is to spend the year seeking another job in the region - at least you would be next door for an interview and this headache can be solved there. Secondly, rent is pure hell here. With no power to control the greed of building owners, rents are going up every day. It is complete madness and it is as if you are working just to cover your rent until you die or leave Kuwait. My tip is to sublet. It is becoming very common now to have two families share a flat and split the rent. Not a bad idea. Thirdly, shopping for groceries is no longer fun, given the high cost of living and the high prices. If you are a fan of seafood, then you would know exactly what I mean. My tip is to avoid expensive household items and go for cheap ones - they will not last long, but will do the job. Finally, we all need to keep clam at all times and avoid crowed places. This is the golden rule that I have in and out of Kuwait. I am amazed by those who go to markets, malls and even cinemas during rush hours and I find this either deliberate exposure to inconvenience or absolute stupidity. These places are open throughout the week, and peak times are often when fights and harassments occur. We don’t know how dangerous this year could be, so why take the risk? The year is still young and we need to have a plan on how to spend it in peace. Source:kuwaittimes news.kuwaittimes.net/tips-survive-2015-kuwait/
