Tipton County Sheriff’s Office Detectives have made an arrest in a recent rash of trailer and scrap metal thefts. Between September and October, victims have reported thefts of utility trailers and assorted pieces of metal commonly sold as scrap metal throughout the County. As Detectives investigated the cases a suspect was developed and later identified as Christopher Lee Heathcoat (White tank top photo), 29 of 697 Appleberry Road in Munford. Heathcoat, who was free on bond for a previous trailer theft charge, was questioned and admitted to his role in the theft of scrap metal from the 600 block of Appleberry Road, theft of a utility trailer in the 9000 block of Holly Grove Road and two thefts in the Millington area. Heathcoat has been formally charged with Theft of Property Over $500.00 and Theft of Property Over $1000.00. He remains in custody awaiting his 02 December 2014 appearance in Tipton County General Sessions Court. Detectives recovered two of the stolen utility trailers which were valued at over $1000.00. A second suspect, Charles Trent Taylor, 22 of 61 Blaydes Drive in Atoka, has been identified and is fleeing from authorities. Taylor has ties to Tipton County, Shelby County and West Memphis, Arkansas. Taylor is a fugitive with an active theft warrant as a result of the theft investigations. It is unknown what type of vehicle Taylor may be traveling in.
