Tipton Countys second courthouse was built of fireproof brick and limestone in 1858-1859 by a Hamilton County contractor for $10,000. The buildings first floor held the county offices and the upper story contained the courtroom. The structure was torn down in 1892 to make way for the new, modern courthouse. N. S. Martz of Tipton bought the used bricks for the construction of his Fame Canning Company.
