Tirzah’s Garden Across the floors Through gossamer White drapes Lies Tirzah’s garden Vivid shades Of growing green Tendrils reaching Like a woman’s hair Blowing in the wind A breeze though the wind chimes Sending notes Of harmony to rain Down on squash And long beans Mocking bird Finches and tits Visit the garden With the rush of hummingbirds Slow ballet Near the fountain Lazy bumblebees Heavy with pollen Blunder from flower To flower Heavy figs and citrus Grow in the hot sun A promise of sweeter tomorrows While grape vines Wave from the trellis In a seductive dance To passing finches It’s unruly in a tidy way Seeds scattered Willy-nilly in hay Planers while red Worms grow in the garage Urban garden Surrounded by cairns For the living and The dead A whispered prayer of Gratitude to God Tirzah’s garden Rich fecund Promise of fall’s bounty Crowned by nasturtiums Orange blossoms Competing with colorful Monarchs chasing one Another then puddling Nearby and a sigh Of summer still in The heated air Breathed heavily A place of heart shaped rocks Of hope eternal Of Spanish tile floors Cool to my feet Waiting for the Knock at her door From Phoenix: From the Ashes Rising by Michelle Dutch c2014
