Titanoboa cerrejonensis is the largest snakes ever confirmed, maxing out at 48 feet (14 meters) long. It lived during the Paleocene 60-58 million years ago. This monstrous serpent was able to unhinge its jaw in order to swallow crocodiles whole. During this time period, global temperatures were much higher than they are now, allowing cold-blooded animals to reach these sizes. More info: bit.ly/1hrdsFk
