Titans hunt another win Spanish Town Titans will seek to extend their lead in the Jamaica Premier League T20 cricket competition when they play MoBay Sixers at Ultimate Oval in St Ann today. One of three matches on the day, the match-up is set to get under way at 1:30 p.m. and will be the second of a double-header. The curtain-raiser will see Ocho Rios Chargers going up against Mandeville Thunders at 9:30 a.m. Spanish Town Titans lead the points standing with maximum six after winning their first two matches last weekend. The Danza Hyatt-captained unit defeated Kingston Hurricanes by 31 runs and Mandeville Thunders by 44 runs under the Duckworth and Lewis system. The game could go down to the wire. However, given the way my team is playing I expect us to record our third win, said Hyatt. We have been doing well in all areas. We have been doing well either setting or chasing targets, while our bowling has been improving since our first match. The Titans, in addition to Hyatt, will look to Andre Russell, Tamar Lambert and all-rounder Wayne Morgan. MoBay Sixers, in the meanwhile, will be seeking to build on their third-place standing. They defeated Ocho Rios in their first game, before rain prevented any play in their second match against Kingston Hurricanes. Captain Jermaine Blackwood, pacer Jason Dawes, opener Kennar Lewis and West Indies Under-19 captain, off-spinner Ramaal Lewis, are set to lead their charge. PLAYERS TENTATIVE Some of our players were a bit tentative in the first matches, especially with players coming together from different clubs and parish associations, said MoBay manager, Carlton Simpson. However, since then things have improved. Tthe team has been training well, team spirit is high and we are looking forward to recording our second win. The first match, in the meanwhile, will see bottom-placed Ocho Rios Chargers and fifth-place Mandeville Thunders looking to record their first win. Ocho Rios will be led by captain Joseph Palmer and will include Xavier Marshall and Rasheed Outar, while the Thunders will look to Jerome Taylor, Zeniffe Fowler and Jamie Merchant for much inspiration. The match at Kensington, which is scheduled to get under way at 1:30 p.m, will see second-placed University Dynamites gunning for their third straight win, at the expense of fourth-place Kingston Hurricanes.
