Setting and Reporting This position is located in the African Union – United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID). The Political Affairs Officer will report to the Chief of Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) Implementation Section as well as Chief Reporting and Analysis Section. Education Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in political science, international relations, social sciences, law, public administration, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Work Experience A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in political affairs, diplomacy, international affairs, or related field is required. Experience in analysis, advice and report writing is required. Experience working in a United Nations common system field operation (inclusive of peacekeeping, political missions and UN agencies, funds, and programmes) – or similar international organization or non-governmental organization – in a conflict or post-conflict setting is an advantage. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of a second official United Nations language is an advantage.
