Title: The Last Leaf of Autumn (November 5, 2013 3:55 AM) Windy days have come for me To break my hold of this tree My brothers and sisters have given in They have changed colors and now down do they spin They float to the ground in a lazy dance Spinning furiously in a prideful prance But knowing what awaits them on the forest floor Tightens my grip on my stem all the more Rain and wind beat at me As I watch thousands of my kin fly from me To a doom of red, brown, and orange do they float down Dizzily spinning, happily blind to whats all around As five more let go to a blissful, yet short moment I cry out in pain as I hear an assortment Of groans and creaks that tear parts of me From the stem of my branch that has been holding me I look at myself and discover thus far I have been changing, my bright green has been marred A golden yellow has taken over the tips And now wind and the rains cold are starting to nip I am freezing and pain shoots up from all over All my family passed long ago in the warm October The winds brutality was too much for them Now I watch them turn brown and crunch under humans I put up a fight ten thousand could not I was strong enough to hold off the rot But now I cry for this is a sad victory For I cannot rejoice as I overlook my dead family The deaths of so many of the forests leaves Have weakened my hold and grasp on this tree I shall give into what fate has brought unto me And shall float down with grace as the last autumn leaf.
