Titus 3: 4-8 Notice the terms used to describe God’s motives for saving us: “kindness and love” (3:4), “mercy” (3:5), and ‘grace’ ( 3:7). We are justified by God’s grace; that is, we are declared good in God’s eyes by virtue of belonging to Christ . This takes us off the performance treadmill, relieving us of the need to measure up to God’s standards. Some of us have spent our lives trying to measure up. We may have carried a load of guilt for failing to live up to a list of rules. But when we surrender ourselves to God, He accepts us as we are. At the same time, He calls us to holy living, but He also provides us with the Holy Spirit , who will help us.
