Tng Zong Qing about sgagainstpoverty.org It’s a campaign that aims to raise awareness about poverty in Singapore. This campaign is a result of the shared efforts by the Caritas Singapore Community Council and a coalition of partners. The website provides information on their mission statement and also the aims of the campaign. Furthermore, the web page also provides stories on Mr Vincent Thor, a visually handicapped man, and how he led his life with dignity despite his inability to see. Bite sized information was provided, such as Singapore being ranked 26th out of 136 nations in The world for income inequality. Also given, was Singapore being the worlds 6th most expensive city to live in in 2012. This was provided to allow users to digest small bits of information like this much quicker. Moreover, full articles are also posted to allow users to be able to read more in-depth information regarding poverty issues in Singapore. Interesting videos are also posted as advertisements to help increase awareness of the campaign, as well as fighting against poverty in Singapore. I felt surprised that we still face such social problems of poverty despite all of our economic success. Even though the issue of poverty in our situation is not that serious as compared to other countries that are far worse than Singapore, I feel very fortunate that I am able to live my life here in Singapore without much to worry about, except for my grades and studies.
