To: All Freedom Players From: Dennis Williams, Owner Re: “Moving Up” Date: September 4, 2014 Gentlemen, I understand that some of you may have concerns about your ability to “move up” to the Arena, Canadian or even National Football League given your commitment to the Trenton Freedom and the Professional Indoor Football League. I would like to take the opportunity to address these concerns and, hopefully, put them to rest. The Trenton Freedom organization WANTS you to have the opportunity to play football at whatever level your talents permit. We will do everything in our power to help you achieve these goals. Frankly, it is in OUR best interest to help you move up to the higher levels. Allow me to explain . . . 1) I am first and foremost a football fan. I want to be pointing at my television on an autumn Sunday and tell anyone within earshot “That’s one of my alumni!” 2) It’s excellent press for the team when one of our players is signed to play at a higher level. We will send out a press release whenever it happens. Positive press – especially press that shows the high level of skill our players have – translates into more ticket sales for us. 3) The more members of the Trenton Freedom that move up, the better it is for our recruiting. Using you as examples of the opportunities our players will have makes it much easier for us to recruit high-level players in the future. Accordingly, Coach O’Hanlon and I have agreed upon a course of conduct we will follow to help you achieve your dreams. 1) We will send out a standing invitation to any AFL, CFL or NFL scouts to come to our events and watch you in action. 2) Any request by an AFL, CFL or NFL team to have you “try out” will be honored by the Freedom. You will be given whatever time off you need to take advantage of these opportunities. 3) Each of your contracts requires the Freedom to give you your release if an AFL, CFL or NFL team offers you a spot on its roster. 4) If, for any reason, you do not “make it” with a higher level team, we will welcome you back to the Freedom and do everything in our power to get you more opportunities. Finally, I would like to offer one additional bit of assistance to our players. I am not an agent and cannot represent you in negotiations with another team. But I am a licensed attorney and will be happy to sit with any player – at NO cost to the player – and review any contract offered by an AFL, CFL or NFL team with you. Remember, the Trenton Freedom is a “family business” and you are a part of the “family.” We really believe that what is best for you is best for us, too, and we will do anything we can to help you achieve your goals.
