Council meetings are posted the day after each session, and held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month. Longtime Mayor Don Adolph stepped down, and iconic Councilwoman, Terry Henderson, referred to as the “hardest working Councilperson in California,” retired. A huge crowd, standing room only, turned out to say goodbye and pay tribute to these incredible civil servants, who surely both left their indelible marks on the City of La Quinta. Among the attendees were: Brian Nestande, Sheriff Stan Smith, Jan Harnick, Christi Salamone, Kristy Franklin, Lee Osborne, Doug Hassett, Tim Bender, Clayton Baldwin, Deb Elrich, Tustin Larson, Charlotte Wang, Chip Miller, Eddie Gilbreath, and many, many more. After the tribute, was the swearing in of La Quinta’s new Mayor, the honorable Linda Evans, followed by our new Councilmen Robert Radi and John Pena! Reconvening her first Council meeting, the new Mayor tapped her gavel, a bit shy at first, but with a firm “We’re ready to rock and roll”, she and her enthusiastic administration usher in a new and exciting era for the future of the desert’s gem.
