To All : The post last night about the 75 year old Toms River man, Clifford Robbins pleading Guilty to Animal Cruelty charges obviously got alot of attention. Mr. Robbins pleaded Guilty to asphyxiating his dog (Mocha) and the actual sentencing will take place on March 6th. The Ocean County Prosecutors Office is recommending Probation with conditions attached that Robbins be required to undergo a psychiatric evaluation and receive treatment if it is recommended and Robbins will also be banned from having any more pets for the rest of his life. Mr Robbins will be allowed to keep his cat and his home will be subject to periodic inspections by the NJSPCA. The charges that Robbins plead Guilty to are third degree crimes and they carry a potential prison term of five (5) years but also carry a presumption of no incarceration for those who do not have a criminal record. Robbins lawyer stated that Mr. Robbins made a mistake after his dog became sick. The attorney for Mr. Robbins stated that he made a mistake and should have taken the dog to a Veterinarian. The twenty (20) year old dog had advanced arthritis in her hips and a tumor in her stomach. NJSPCA got involved after Toms River Animal Control removed the body of this dog but took no legal action against Mr. Robbins. Thanks to those who spoke up and demanded Justice for Mocha...............Capt Yocum
