To Altaf Hssain on his demand for an Urdu speaking Chief Minister - TopicsExpress

To Altaf Hssain on his demand for an Urdu speaking Chief Minister of Sindh: Mr. Altaf Hussain, there is no constitutional bar on the Urdu speaking community members to become Chief Ministers of Sindh. Those who consider themselves part and parcel of Sindh and defend the interests of Sindh are Sindhi despite the fact that they speak Sindhi, Urdu, Pashtu or any other language. Unfortunately, MQM (not the Urdu speaking Sindhi community) has failed to practically align with the interests of Sindh. On the other hand, let you should be clear and make us all clear that which political ideology you buy? If you are an Urdu speaking Sindhi federalist, than you should open up your party at least to the people of Sindh similar to Pakistan People Party that has a history of Urdu speaking senior central leadership, have also a history of Urdu speaking senior ministers as well as deputy speaker of Sindh Assembly. If you believe in the freedom of Sindh, than you should demand for the post of Prime Minister, not the Chief Minister. By the way, nearly a dozen sitting junior and senior Generals of Pakistan Army are Urdu speaking on the quota of Sindh; meanwhile no Sindhi has been promoted to the post of Brigadier General so far in the sixty-seven years history of Pakistan and around forty years history of SIndh Regiment of Pakistan Army. The sitting Sindh Governor is one of the top militants of MQM, according to Sindh Police record, who is holding this post of Governor SIndh since last 12 years. In fact, all those Sindh residents who consider themselves Sindhi and are bound to defend and protect the interest of Sindh, are Sindhi in our eyes. What lakes on the MQM’s part is its tactical politics in which it has not welcomed Sindhi membership and leadership in the party on equal basis. Nor it has been in good rapport with the political parties of Sindh. What if a Sindhi speaking Sindhi tomorrow demands you that open up MQM and elect its Supremo on the Sindhi and Urdu basis for every two-three years terms? All those who consider themselves Sindhi and protect Sindh rights and interests like rest of the indigenous Sindhis majority are equal citizens and have equal rights to everything that is meant for Sindhi and SIndhis. I think MQM need to have deep re-consideration and review of its past politics and should come up with open minded options. With love and Regards, Zulfiqar Shah, a Sindhi Refugee, currently staying in New Delhi, India
