To Chairman of the UN Security Council: What is happening in the fields of Egypt is leading to genocide The Arab Organization for Human Rights in Britain has sent an urgent message to the President and members of the UN Security Council urging them to take practical steps on stopping the targeting of peaceful protesters in various Egyptian cities by the security forces, the army and the thugs. The organization indicated in its letter that during the evening of Monday 22nd July 2013, groups of thugs protected by police and the army attacked protesters on their way back to “Maidan Al Nahda” and opened fire and tear gas cansiters; as well as burned cars. This attack left three people dead and more than 70 wounded. The number of casualties is expected to increase, as the attacks continued until 8 am on Tuesday. This incident comes in a series of systematic attacks by security forces and thugs since the 30th June when acts of killings were committed, most notably the massacre of the Republican Guard, Ramses and Mansoura in an effort of the security establishment and the military to break up demonstrators in support of President Mohamed Morsi. This confirms reports that were highlighted earlier that General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi developed a plan in collaboration with the Interior Ministry to eliminate the demonstrations and end the sit-ins, which are muddling the coup plan since the 3rd of July. The media band is motivating in broad daylight the eradication of demonstrators and having them arrested. After every massacre, the media defends the security forces, the army and the thugs; as well re- produce the series of event with the victim represented as the killer and portray this as an attack by the demonstrators on to the locals. The bullying by the thugs has become a structure in itself within the Egyptian security services with organised leadership and funding. This benefits the authorities in two important ways; firstly, to demonise the opposing party in front of the public opinion so as to reproduce the event of crime carried out by the thugs and accuse the supporters of President Mohamed Morsi. Secondly, to terrorise the demonstrators and dissuade them from taking to the streets. AOHRUK called the Security Council in light of the evidence that confirms the involvement of the security forces and the army in the killings to make a decision on the formation of committees to investigate all the events that have occurred since June 30th, and hold accountable all those responsible for the killings and send observers to monitor the movements of the security forces in the vicinity of the demonstrations.
