To: Dr. Ilene Busch-Vishniac, President of U of S - on TransformUS and Kenderdine Campus - Emma Lake.I I want to give a voice of an alumnus - University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus, graduated 1968. What happens at the University of Saskatchewan affects the wider community of Saskatchewan. For example, the quality of education for students, key education and other services being offered off campus, the University of Saskatchewan being a public university with a mandate to serve all Saskatchewan citizens. All are very important considerations in the impact of TransformUS. My deep concern is that with TransformUS we will lose some important links of the university that have taken decades to develop, and have contributed immensely to the cultural and learning integrity of this province. In particular, I am referring to Kenderdine Campus- Emma Lake. It is a jewel of community connectedness, linking everything from sustainable practices, to the Arts. It has been heralded across North America as something unique for a learning institution. It has touched the hearts and souls of generations of people who have learned skills, learned about the beautiful northern environment and have carried their experiences forward as major contributions to the communities they are part of. I would sincerely implore you to not continue the closure of Kenderdine Campus. Please keep staff there who can maintain the campus, so it is ready for moving forward building on its historical mandate of serving Saskatchewan. Furthermore, this would allow an opportunity for both on campus and off campus people, who have used and understand the purpose of Kenderdine Campus, to develop a long range vision and plan for taking Kenderdine Campus forward in this 21st century. I am sending as well a brief video documentary called Voices of Kenderdine which shows how deep Kenderdine is in the hearts and thoughts of the people of Saskatchewan. Thank you for your consideration of this letter. Don Kossick Alumnus, U of S Regina Campus – graduated 1968 111 Albert Ave, Saskatoon, S7N 1E6 youtube/watch?v=udjGEGMd8j8
