To Greenspond people - that is people who are in Greenspond now! From George Karpelos: Im an architect and professor of architecture at Ryerson University. Im heading to Newfoundland, specifically to visit Greenspond, which I first knew 40 years ago and wrote and article about it at that time (Townscape in a tickle!). Ill be arriving by car sometime mid-day on Tuesday 8 July and will stay until Thursday morning 10 July. Im staying at Harding House B&B. My purpose is specifically to visit the community with the view of potentially doing an architecture studio involving Greenspond in the fall. A studio is course in architecture where students undertake design exercises on a specific theme. Im looking at vernacular architecture and considering doing a project in Greenspond on a site and program yet to be determined. Perhaps we could meet on Tuesday and we could chat. Id also like to visit the local building supply places in the area and perhaps also meet with some of the people in the community who might be interested in meeting me and talking about our work.
