To Imran Khan: I am not sure whether you will succeed in your political mission or not, though I wish and pray that you do. But our bureaucracy, institutions, other political parties and perhaps the masses make those rise in politics who have ambitions to plunder money. Reason is simple, such people are not straight forward like you, they hide behind system, dominant discourse and cliches. You are not that mettle. I know you since 1971 when you made your debut in cricket and I know you never compromised for Pakistan in any game under any circumstances. You were never shy of being eyeball to eyeball with the most powerful of those times. You shattered Ian Botham and Allan Lambs repute in their own backyard by winning the defamation case on ball tempering. Both of them were nearly bankrupt after that case.You taught them a lesson! You have always given immense pleasure to me at times through your sharp in-dippers and at other occasions by your clean fundraising and establishment of the best institution in Pakistan I mean SKMH. And today I want to thank you for giving us the free spirited innocent celebration which this nation has forgotten and which it so richly deserve. You broke the detached, arrogant and boring style of leadership so much associated with Pakistan politics after the loss of Z A Bhutto (though he was not as straight and really in love with his people like you) that we had nearly forgotten it. Thanks Khan sb for bringing back smiles to our face, for warming our hearts with hope, after all every great achievement in this world started with a vision of hope. Who can forget the impossible situation from where we won the 1992 World Cup under you. After teaching and studying management for years I have learned one lesson: You can never be a good manager and/or leader if you are not a good human being, a good citizen, a good son/daughter, a good parent etc. etc. I mean you cant be good in patches. If you are corrupt you are corrupt across the board and vice versa. Thanks again for providing life line to millions of people in this country including myself, the life line of hope and pure and simple joy. Ours is a wicked system of politics and you may become history today, but you will live in our hearts as the true visionary leader who created a compelling future for us, if we cant get their, it will be our failure, you have done your job.
