To Kill a Mockingbird by Mystina Barber In Advanced English 9, we read To Kill a Mockingbird. By the end of the year, every single freshman student will have read it. To Kill a Mockingbird is a classic novel written by Harper Lee. The story takes place during three years of the Great Depression in the fictional tired old town of Maycomb, Alabama. The novel is renowned for its warmth and humor, despite dealing with the serious issues of rape and racial inequality. To Kill a Mockingbird was published July 11th, 1960. I believe that reading To Kill a Mockingbird is suitable to read as a freshman because sometimes we take where we live for granted. We aren’t grateful for what we have as a community and sadly we are very distanced where as in Maycomb they are close and talk about everything. I would recommend To Kill a Mockingbird to everyone :)
