To Kyle Krebs and other atheists: I think what he was trying to - TopicsExpress

To Kyle Krebs and other atheists: I think what he was trying to say is that atheists are very rarely discriminated upon in Ateneo law, if ever. Yes, atheists like other groups suffer some form of ostracism in the real world, but then again doesnt everyone? In my time in Ateneo I have never heard of a case where an Atheist has been bullied simply because of his lack of religous belief. I do agree that you guys just want special treatment. Unfortunately the school treats every student the same way. The LGBT population of the student body dont get special treatment and they suffer the brunt of ill treatment. Muslims and other non christians are must observe (not participate in) traditional prayer sessions. Theyre also required to attend theology class. Do you hear them whining about awkwardness and discrimination? In fact students with less financial resources or with plain faces or weight problems have more right to complain about the awkwardness in school because theyre the ones who suffer REAL ostracism. Its simple really. People will have no idea that someone is an atheist unless thyre told. Non believers will just have to say it out loud. If you guys dont want to go to the chapel then dont. Youre also allowed to decline requests for prayer. I really dont see what the problem is. The tone of the posts of atheists are an insult to those who have to bear the awkwardness and ostracism they face every day in school because of what they have, the way they look or who they love. Despite everything the students in Ateneo Law have generally tried to respect what others believe. Sure atheists may encounter assholes once in a while, but then so does eveyone else. Atheists have NO right to feel api. Put up an org if it makes you feel better but please remember that you are in a Catholic School. Catholic schools begin prayer before and after each class. Its not strange, its tradition. Its not unconstitutional, its an exercise of religious belief and academic freedom. You guys are more than welcome to move to a State school. No prayers there. If youre scared youll be forcibly converted, dont be. People respect your religious freedom and are too busy with other things that matter. Besides you guys like everyone else are nothong special. P.S. If you guys are too weak, ashamed or scared to let people know that you dont believe in God, then thats your problem not Ateneo Laws. - Kawawa naman kayo, 20##
