To MPBA Members, Hank asked me to share facts & opinions with you regarding PIJAC & Ed Sayers, former head of ASPCA. 1. American Pet Products Association (APPA) provides a very substantial portion of PIJAC funding. 2. Both HSUS and ASPCA are influential members of APPA. 3. The current chairman of PIJAC was formerly chairman of APPA and the current chairman of APPA was former chairman of PIJAC. Now I will share my opinion with you. 1. I believe the pet industry needs a national organization & PIJAC is a national organization. 2. Given the present funding sources and the power structure of PIJAC, they do not represent the best interests of MPBA or its members. 3. I do not believe Mr. Sayres has demonstrated in any way his allegiance to pet producers or his opposition to HSUS and ASPCA. I have offered this without malice to any person or organization. I will continue to dialogue and network with those on both sides of this issue, but I believe Mr. Sayres is a mistake. All the best, Dave Miller Past President, MPBA
