To Mayor Fisher and all other city officials sitting in your behind closed door meetings thinking of reactive solutions to the thug quandary, I understand you are 80 to 120 men/women short on your police force. May I respectfully submit some proactive ideas to assist you: First, since Louisville is the home of several biker clubs, enlist the assistance of some of these gentlemen (big burly bikers and not so big burly bikers) to cruise Louisville streets and the waterfront after dark. Not only will they act as an intimidation factor, they wont have an issue stopping and helping a little old lady across the street or whatever else is needed at the moment. Second, have Louisville Slugger rent out Louisville Slugger bats (equalizers) to any visitor downtown who is over the age of 21. These individuals also must have their pants covering their asses. Third, bring the dogs back! The really big dogs! Whats a little poop on the bridge if the (big) dogs also act as an intimidation factor? Four, since these scumbag juvies cant be arrested, they need to be identified by all of those lovely cameras being placed around the waterfront. Once this happens, these scumbag juvies need to be picked up, one by one, and have the Jefferson County sheriffs department deliver them to their residence. An official letter needs to be presented to mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, auntie or cousin John. This letter will state that if said scumbag juvie is caught outside after 9:00pm ANY night of the week OR he so much as spits on the sidewalk, said GUARDIAN will then be hauled off to jail! Period. Said guardian must sign this letter. Last on my list, take some of the unmarked guys on the Watterson and let them cruise downtown! Please! (I have trouble driving the speed limit on the Watterson.) Police, marked and unmarked, need to have their presence known downtown. Fact is, cameras are reactive solutions and if they cant arrest scumbag juvies because they are 11 year old scumbag juvies, action has to be taken anyway.
