Operators are suppose to check their trains for trash. R3.3.1. This is a part of what we were hire to do. This is a fact. What CTA is doing is right. How they are doing it is wrong. You are not expected to pick up 10-25 or any other hazardous waste. If that is the case call control and report the 10-25. If gloves and trash bags are not available call control and make them aware of it. Put it on the air, because I asked both terminal supervisors for gloves and trash bags and got no response, (Cover Thy Ass). However their bulletin says to check your train before departure but they are putting people out of service upon arrival then giving accelerated discipline with a final written warning and a 1 day suspension. So everybody who is talking loud and say what they aint gonna do YOU ARE A PART OF THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!! CTA have senior managers on the platform with a check list watching you to make sure that you are doing what they want. #1 it is the operators to remove trash, not clean the train. Again the procedure is not being followed because it is suppose to be before departure but they are enforcing it upon arrival even if you are not there yet. Does not matter if there are Car Servicers on the platform or not. Now if every operator does this and stop talk shit about what they are not going to do, there is no way this rail road will be on time. It is not my goal to cause a delay of service, I take pride in my job regardless of the ass hole that I work for, but just like me they are also responsible to follow the rules and not make hem up as we go along. This is why I fight the union so hard because they allow CTA to do what they want to do. bk himself has said it many times, All we can do is file a grievance. To me that is pitiful. What we can do is organize, educate, and demand that CTA follow the guide lines to our CBA and if they refuse to do so then we can take them to court and the union has the power to give a 5 day notice before taking a strike vote. So when bk and the rest of the weak leadership talks about what we can and can not do, all lies, fear and weakness at its best. Ive talked to managers and they would say its your union. Now that is a shame when management is taunting the union. It use to be the other way around. Unions used to taunt management. All I know is this, CTA is ready to have a massive take over and if its true or not about them wanting to crush the unions at this rate this union will soon fall because there is no resistance, just a lot of writing grievances that takes months before they are even look at. On new years day there were 17 runs out on the blue line. At one point in the am there were only 3 trains on the entire branch. I was the next south bound train to leave Ohare and I was still north bound leaving Division. What is my point. Folks are afraid to legally strike but not afraid to not come to work, take a miss, abuse FMLA, or max out on sick book entries. I just dont understand it. For all practical purposes 01/01/14 was a strike. I would never wish or hope that it would come to that, what I want to see happen is that Claypool and bk sit down and talk. Neither one of them are suffering it you and me. And for any body to allow their least of them to suffer is not worthy of being the elected leader that they were trusted and voted into that office to be. 241/308 its time to change rather you like it or not. A sellout, lying, thief talking to a union busting pig is not enough. Also, I am so glad we are talking about this here! On my job people are talking about strike. I said I would have a really hard time follow Robert Kelly or the ATU into a strike. If we ever did strike, we would have to really work hard to make sure we would not be sold out before we even started. Which is what the ATU does. So friday I said this, that we are in a war with the CTA and Robert Kelly is our leader. Would you be willing to follow someone who lies to you and steals from you into battle? The bullets are already flying. I dont want to come home in a body bag. We need to have training exercises!
