To My Lovely People :- Firstly I have to say that I am stunned by all the amazing support you have all given me on this piece of work. Although it is in creative partnership with Neil, at the end of the day it is a track from his album which he and his record company are leading on and I am supporting. For me personally the joy of creating such great music and such a great video has been reward enough in itself. It is very left of field for me and I never expected my usual mainstream promo but I did expect much more radio and especially TV. I really wanted people to see and hear it rather than have me talk about in the press. Both Neil and I were up for performing it and it is perhaps disappointing that we had no Chatty Man, Later with Jools, Graham Norton or even One Show. Much as I love Alan Titchmarsh, his show’s audience is not really suitable for this music. The promo was organised by Neil’s record company and they employed Judd Lander to do this. Whether his was the right kind of company or not to get this music out there, is not for me to say. All I can say is that having retired, as you know, from active duty as Sandie Shaw as was, that this was a tickle exercise on my part to see if and how much I wanted to try and do the kind of music that inspires me and if it was possible to do it outside the celebrity circus that goes with mainstream pop music. The result appears to be divided. A lot of people just cannot understand why someone in my position in life, and having achieved whatever I have achieved would want to get involved any more. I am at an age when most people want to take it easy and follow their private pursuits, not want to turn the world on its head! Another lot of people think that this is the time to follow my heart’s desire and do what I want regardless. If I pursue music it will have to be for the love of it. There is probably no need to remind you that there is no longer any money in music unless you are a global megastar/brand and agree to doing things that have nothing whatsoever to do with the making of great music. So it’s a split vote and I suppose the decision is mine. It is not a commercial but a heart decision and I will take my time deciding.
