To NIT-Warangal Alumini March 25, 2014 Subject: Funding for pursing summer research internship in University of California,Los Angeles(UCLA) Respected Maam & Sir, I, Arti Sengar ,am an undergraduate student of pre-final year, Mechanical Engineering, at National Institute of Technology, Warangal one of the best technical universities in India. My Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is 9.13 on a scale of 10. Besides being good at academics I’m actively involved in college’s extracurricular activities. This correspondence is regarding my interest in pursuing summer research internship. I have got an invitation letter from the Professor Vijay K.Dhir of Mechanical Engineering Department in University of California, Los Angeles. This university stands 13th in world ranking. He has invited me to assist him on his ongoing research project in the Boiler Heat Transfer Laboratory. I’m very much enthusiastic to avail this opportunity which will expose me to world class laboratory facilities and equipments helping me to learn a lot. Unfortunately my weak financial conditions isnt permitting me to cherish this dream of mine. I have been a regular merit scholarship holder in my college which helps me to bear up the academic expenses in the college. The total expense of my two months intern in California will be around $4100 and a flight and visa charges of $2000. This year NITW started a Foreign Internship Program that funds students for Internship in USA. If selected for that I’ll be liable to get a funding of $2000 and $1000 for flight However, this wouldn’t be sufficient to bear up all the expenses in Los Angeles. My mentor is also not in a position to fund me. Therefore, most humbly I request you to understand my situation and try to support me financially by providing me a kind funding with whatsoever possible for you.
