To Sir (Charles) With Love Why would someone choose to give of themselves to the needs of others? Where does the desire to do good reside? Where does the ability to empathize, support and continue to advocate for those who need our love and compassion come from? These are some of the descriptions that are true but not even close to defining the character of Charles Lynn frost. Over the years I have come to admire, love and often just stand in awe at the compassionate generosity of this man who continues to give without hesitation. He is, and continues to be, a remarkable person genuine in his kindness, generous in his love and a zealous advocate for those in need. I dont know what motivates his heart. I dont know what drives him to champion issues that others shy away from. I dont know where he finds the time, energy and patience to confront the injustice around us or just be present for so many over the years. It is a rare trait, this compassionate generosity, with a touch of passionate advocacy that defines this man and we are all lucky for it. There is the brilliant and wickedly sharp sense of humor. There is the astute observer of the human condition. There is the critical gaze that misses nothing. There is the heart of compassion. There is the political advocate for human dignity. There is the worker beee tirelessly engaged in this or that project. There is the good friend who can listen and for the moment lighten the load of your troubles. There is the sensitive man who carries much within him. There is the laughter that comes from the quiet resolve as a mirror to reflect. There is the friend who makes a difference in this world in small, meaningful, ways without reservation or expectation of any return. There is a good person, doing good things, for all of us. There is simply Charles and I have been fortunate in this fragment of time, in this accident of history to have met this remarkable person. Such are the accidental gifts in life that make such moments memorable and just a little bit better for all of us. Thank You! Much peace, love and joy to you my friend Charles.
