To : The Editor The National Re-A picture on your pg 4 6/10/14 accompanying your piece titled ; Ombudsman embarks on housing project. I dont know what happened but the picture you ran accompanying the OC housing project story was from an event in my electorate last Saturday 4/10/14 - Watut HV Rural Electrification Program Launch. I believe your Lae journalist may have sent you the story but the story may have been sidelined while the picture was accidentally or intentionally used to promote the OC housing scheme. Anyway I hope you correct this in your next print tomorrow 07/10/14. I will also complete the story that was supposed to accompany that picture. Watut LLG High Voltage Rural Electricity Program starts. Watut LLG being one of the six LLG in Bulolo District has finally received its blessings of Rural Electrification. Last Saturday 04/10/14 local MP Sam Basil accompanied by the District Administration and Watut LLG President Waka Daimon witnessed the erection of the first HV transmission line post at the Watut LLG HQ Manianda station. The HV transmission line will start from Baiune Hydro Power House over the newly constructed Leklu Bridge into Latep and alongside the newly constructed road linking Warut LLG. The 40km power project comes under the jdp&bpc funded rural electrification program which is changing peoples lives in Bulolo Electorate. 39 years after independence the people of the Upper Watut LLG only see power in Wau and Bulolo Township and have never thought that one day Watut will have access to power. A crowd of more than 2000 people of Watut gathered at the Manianda Station to witness the occasion and showed their gratitude and happiness during the first pole installation program conducted by Bulolo District RE team from PNGPL. The powering of Watut LLG now sees Wau/Bulolo & Mumeng Township, Buang, Mumeng LLG, Watut and Wau Rural fully and partially having access to electricity. Waria people will later have HV transmission lines continuing from Winima into Biaru then Waria which is still in the pipeline as their road and air transport now takes precedence over other developmental programs in Bulolo District. MSK installation including Low Voltage and service line installations will be a follow soon into Leklu, Latep,Society and Manianda Villages of the Upper Watut Valley. Memyamya Electorate can also benefit if their jdp&bpc can sign an MOA with Bulolo District just like Huon Gulf Mp Hon Ross Seymour recently that has seen a new road construction from Wagau to Labu Tale. That access will also see the HV transmission line cross over from Buang to Salamaua while villages along the way can be powered up. Thank you Post Courier for the good and precise coverage as shown on the Momase Pg 18 of todays.
