To Whom It May Concern (aka EVERYBODY): Please do not tell a pregnant woman any of the following things... 1. Ooh, youve gotten so big! Under no circumstance is this a good thing to hear. 2. Youre about ready to pop! Unless you know that she is actually PAST her due date. 3. You must be carrying twins Even if she is, your implication is... refer to #1. 4. Its about time you got pregnant. You dont know what she may have gone though to get pregnant. Plus, its kind of none of your business. 5. Have you picked a name?...oh, I dont like that. You should name the baby... Seriously? Go name your own baby! 6. Any story about how horrible your birth experience was....Hopefully, no further explanation is needed. 7. Are you sure youre ready for this? What happens if she says no? 8. Can I touch your belly? Personally, I dont mind if FRIENDS rub my belly (good luck for the twins!), but apparently this practice is frowned upon. 9. Good luck with two. I only had one, and that was hard enough. Thanks for the encouragement! 10. Youd better get all the sleep now. To someone who has to get up 3-4 times a night to empty her bladder this comment is pretty frustrating. Besides, from what Ive heard about the first few months (see #9), reflecting on restful nights pre-baby doesnt make sleepless nights and 3am feedings any easier when baby arrives. Hopefully, no one is offended by this post. If you are, blame it on my hormones :-)
