To : World Class FC Members, As we begin the second half of our season, we wish all of our players a successful, healthy and happy spring. Below you will find some links to a collection of offensive and defensive video clips which present a higher level picture of soccer. In addition to training and competing, another important avenue to development is through watching a steady stream of professional soccer, and with every viewing, images enter into the subconscious and ultimately lead to better knowledge and decision making. As important as soccer development is, and no matter how important you may view wins and losses, it is just as important, and probably more important that we focus on creating great student athletes. As such we are instituting many initiatives with the goal of positively impacting players to the point where their picture of success is not only being an excellent player, but also a top of the line student with a solid civic minded foundation. With this goal in mind, over the winter we did set up some exciting and informative activities. First, we did have a college recruiting seminar with coaches from Princeton University, Fairleigh Dickinson University and Montclair State University, describing the types of student athletes they recruit and both the academic and athletic requirements of the colleges. Secondly, we did invite recent alumni exemplifying the successful student athlete concept who were just completing their college careers at Yale University and Duke University, and they discussed the habits and routines which allowed them to succeed both on the field and in the class room through high school and college. Most recently, we did set up a seminar with two young alumni who serve as role models, having taken their education to the next level to become a medical doctor and attorney. We will continue on this road with new initiatives aimed at ultimately creating a viewpoint from our players that excellent soccer and academics are not mutually exclusive, and instead represent the norm at World Class FC. In the near term, we will create a new position, Director of Academics, whose job will be to further ensure we are meeting the goals of our club. Additionally, we will be implementing a mentoring program where our teenage players will attend the training sessions of the younger teams and serve as an assistant to the coach. On another front, we are looking forward to the start of the spring Buddy Ball Program. Once again we expect a great turnout of World Class FC players volunteering their time to work with their Buddies. Also, in the next few weeks we expect to make an exciting announcement of an affiliation between World Class FC and a high level professional club. Please keep tuned in. Lastly, in keeping with the most important theme of this message, I was proud to find out today that one of our U17 players, Katie Landes, was named Valedictorian of her high school senior class. Congratulations to Katie. Good luck to all. Kazbek Tambi Executive Director of Coaching World Class FC
