To You! If you want to be blessed, start with a fundamental attitude of dependency on God (the 1st Beattitude). Because of this basic mindset, you will never be comfortable with shortcomings and youll seek Gods help in changing them (the 2nd Beattitude). The desire to be transformed will create a need to totally surrender to God (Beattitudes #3). At this point, like a battle fatigue soldier starving for lack of food and famishing for want of water who finally wave the white flag to surrender, you will hunger and thirst to be right with God and to be like Him. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Your longing to be right with God (righteousness) will be so intense that you, like Solomon, will learn that earthly sources (power, position, riches, education, occupation, entertainment, physical appetite or prestige) cant produce the satisfaction of happiness for which you hunger and thirst. All is vanity (emptiness). Only the Bread of Life (Jesus the Christ) can provide the enduring satisfaction that fills the soul and sustains spiritual life. Do you desire to be blessed by developing this moral Christian profile (Beattitudes)? Start with an attitude of dependency on God (poor in spirit) that creates feelings of sorrow for shortcomings (mourning) that leads to a meek attitude (total surrender) which generate a longing to always be right with God (hunger and thirst for righteousness). Such a person is truly blessed because he/she is a candidate for the Kingdom, finds comfort when needed, will one day inherit the earth and is provided whats needed to fill the soul and sustain spiritual life.
