To add anything to faith in Christ (as a way to be justified) is to deny the doctrine of justification. To add anything to Christ’s work on the cross is to imply that His sacrifice was not sufficient for your salvation. To add anything to the Gospel of grace is to suggest that somehow sinful people can actively participate in their own salvation. We are justified before a holy God by faith in Jesus Christ plus NOTHING! While our actions are important as the product of salvation, they have nothing to do with providing salvation.
