To adopt go to our website mwdr.org Nigel too needs a doxie savvy home. Nigel is a distinctive looking double dapple with very soft fur. Nigel was well loved by his previous owner who recently passed away. She took him to dog training and he is refreshing his basic obedience skills in his foster home. Nigel has been losing weight on a new diet this past year and is continuing to slim down. He enjoys sniffing the smells and exploring outside and going for walks in decent weather. He loves snoozing on a heated pet bed and chewing on antlers. He is also a big fan of Kongs with peanut butter and bully sticks. We don`t think he would be good with cats. Because of Nigel`s limited vision he can get startled if someone approaches him from above. With his deafness he can also be startled if he is woken up by touching him. Nigel`s new home needs to be aware of this behavior and properly introduce him to new people. Given Nigel`s limitations, he will not be adopted into a home with children or teenagers. A fenced in yard would be a preferable. Nigel enjoys having his ears scratched and belly rubbed. He likes to cuddle but he is not overly demanding of attention. Nigel would be best as any only dog or with a passive dog. He was being fostered with two female doxies but did not initiated any play with his foster sisters. He loves to go in the car and often accompanied his person on trips around the area. Nigel is house trained but will use pee pads if confined in the house. He knows how to use a dog door and will let himself outside when he needs to go. Nigel is not a big barker (with the exception of when his dinner is being prepared – we are working on that issue). Sometimes he sounds like a tribble from Star Trek and moans and groans with pleasure when he is being petted.
