To all Cable One subscribers on the Borger system – The City - TopicsExpress

To all Cable One subscribers on the Borger system – The City of Borger has been notified by Cable One Company that, after the change from analog to digital service, the exclusive use of Channel 11 for emergency programming and other City functions may no longer be available. Cable One has requested that several cities share a common channel to serve as one Public Access Channel for all Panhandle area communities served by Cable One. The City of Borger has studied this proposal, and has answered their request by stating our strong disagreement to their proposed arrangement. The City of Borger and the Borger/Hutchinson County Joint Emergency Operations Center feel that the safety of our citizens will be compromised by not having immediate and exclusive use of Channel 11 to broadcast timely and relevant emergency information in the Cities of Borger, Fritch, and Stinnett. It is unclear at this time what the outcome of this proposed shared channel arrangement will be. We will keep you informed and The City of Borger will continue to transmit our radar and other information on this Channel as long as it remains operational and available for our use.
