To all : I literally thought about your posts.. Every step of the way.. Just a short snippet of yesterday... You have no idea the impact your support really has! I couldnt have finished this race without all of you! At mile marker 11 it felt as if someone put a quads in vice... They froze at one point I couldnt move.. Literal had to stop, I paused and prayed I didnt tear something, bc crawling 15.2 miles would have been insane.. So,I hobble to the nearest medic station where they gave me salt packets and water ( tasted like I was drinking the Oakwook beach ocean water). A few stretches and I began again.. As I dragged myself over the bridge before that insane incline known as 5th Ave, I stopped again at the medic station, as you enter they scan you in, as the EMT was scanning me in.. She asked how I was feeling , a little precious ( because everyone prior never asked that question) I responded curiously, why? She said, because your sweat is crystallizing on your face...and it might be best you stop. Should I get you a bus ( ambulance).. I smiled.. Asked her for extra salt packets, asked to be scanned out..I thanked her and told her probably if this was any other day, Id take you up on that.. But not today... There are too many ppl counting on me to finish and my son is at the finish line waiting.. I was in fear for going into Afib so I stopped at every aid station there after... Drank my oakwood beach cup of water, sometimes two.. The rest is history.. I will say it was truly a remarkable day..and I am grateful for all the kind and remarkable superlatives, but Im nothing more than a desperate Dad trying to raise awareness about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy so perhaps we can save the lives of all these boys who are suffering... They are the Heros. They dont have a choice. I made a conscious thought to run.. They are left with only circumstance.. That is truly unfair! Im a desperate Dad, trying to save his son I will never forget all your support!
