To all I made a quilt for: Jim and Jessica, Jason and Kate, Sam - TopicsExpress

To all I made a quilt for: Jim and Jessica, Jason and Kate, Sam and Ashley, Mark and Rachel, Ben and Kathy, Michael and Ashley, Mom, and Dan and Megan I need to share a story with u. I was working on a quilt block where u have to color the fabric and then put a design on it before u can sew the quilt top together. Its call Redwork. It has been around for hundreds of years. Niko was sitting next to me coloring paper when he took a dark brown crayon and helped me color mine. There is an way to get the crayon off so I did that. But when it dried there was still a faint line. This was on cream colored fabric, so no heavy dye on the fabric. I only buy quilt grade cotton and only for quilt shops. So I took some plain Tide, diluted it with water and just rub the area with my finger. I thoroughly rinsed it and let it dry. When I went back to it the crayon was gone, BUT so was the cream color of the fabric!! I know had a white streak. I had to throw the block and start over. So just a reminder when u wash your quilts only use quilt soap, u can find it in most quilt shops and on line. Follow the directions. Dont put ITN in a machine with a central agitator. U want to use a front loader. I made some calls and talked to many quilters, there is NO laundry soap out there that is safe for quilts to be washed in. At the retreat I went to someone brought a quilt that was 85+ years old and it looked like it was just finished. So if u use the right quilt soap your quilts can easily last that long and longer. Call me if u have any questions. OK, back to quilting for me, lol!!!!!!!
