To all Teachers going back to work this week: I wish you a fantastic school year! You are going to work too hard, not be appreciated enough, worry about individual students, search for ways to get points across, get frustrated, and sometimes question yourself about why on earth you became a teacher. However, I promise you, you will enjoy the rest of your lives as you watch the accomplishments of your former students and enjoy all they will accomplish. They will continue to touch your heart in ways you never imagined. Just this year, some of my kids have jumped out of airplanes, served in military posts around the world, served as University Presidents, worked on mid-ocean oil rigs, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, saved lives, and scores of other amazing feats. You will catch glimpses of those students and the lives they live, and you will know the real rewards of this teaching you do. Your work is important, and your influence is ever lasting. Now, hit that classroom this week and know that you are amazing!!
